Kraken’s xStocks to Democratize IPO Access Through Tokenized Equities
Payward Services, parent company of Kraken, is revolutionizing retail investment access with its xStocks tokenized equities framework. Announced June 3, the platform will enable global retail investors to participate in US-listed IPOs at the offering price—a privilege traditionally reserved for institutional investors and high-net-worth individuals.
The xStocks Alliance mechanism aggregates retail demand during pre-listing windows, working with underwriting syndicates to secure allocations. Shares are tokenized 1:1 and distributed through existing platforms, bypassing the traditional disadvantage where retail investors typically enter only after institutional players have captured initial price advantages.
"Going public should mean public to everyone," remarked Mark Greenberg of Payward Services, highlighting the initiative's core mission to dismantle geographic and financial barriers in public market participation.
